NEW YORK KNICKS 2007-2008 SEASON ANALYSIS

The Madison Square Garden is one of the most celebrated arenas in professional sports. Unfortunately this great basketball venue has recently absorbed a mighty blow in the chops. “Who decked this powerhouse of hoops”, one might wonder. I’m here to tell you that the New York Knick Organization (as a whole) is the culprit; it is fully responsible for bringing disgrace to the once proud fans at Madison Square Garden! It truly is a tragic state of affairs in New York, as it has become excruciatingly painful to observe one Knick loss after another. The New York Knicks are without excuse; they have several above average players at each position on the depth chart. When one watches the Knicks in action, the tension between teammates is so great that he could cut it with a knife. Don’t think for a minute that N.Y. fans are totally oblivious to this disturbing reality; on the contrary, the vast majority know that the Knicks are really not a team at all. In fact, they are a collection of scorers with absolutely zero team concept. Someone needs to force them to sit through a passing seminar or something, because this year is a lost cause. To make matters worse, Head Coach Isiah Thomas has been sipping more than his fair share of who knows what; he is wildly delusional. Thomas was once quoted as saying that he expects to win a championship in New York. They finished with a record of 23 wins and 59 losses. Enough said!
NEW YORK KNICKS -- TOP 3 PLAYERS
1. Jamal Crawford — 20.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 5 apg, 1 spg, 86.4% (FT%), 35.6% (3p%), 39.9 mpg
Jamal Crawford is the prototypical volume scorer in the NBA. He often suffers through a game in which high school players could shoot a higher percentage than him. Then, the next night, if he hits his first fadeaway it’s all over for his defender. He might as well sprawl out on the court and take a nap, because Crawford is guaranteed to go off in that contest. If you need evidence of this, look no further than the Knicks-Raptors matchup on February 22 in which Jamal scorched the nets on his way to a game high 43 points.

2. Zach Randolph – 17.6 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 2 apg, .9 spg, 77.2% (FT%), 45.9% (FG%), 32.5 mpg
Zach Randolph is, in many ways, similar to a big man version of Jamal Crawford. Zbo is a double-double machine. He utilizes being left-handed by taking full advantage of the often unadjusted defensive stance of his opponent. Randolph cleans up the offensive glass with the best of them, and his money move is the jab step and pump fake combination. His range extends all the way out to the three-point arc, and he catches his defenders off guard with a deceptively quick first step for a man of his moderately plump body type.

3. David Lee – 10.8 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 1.2 apg, .7 spg, 81.9% (FT%), 55.7% (FG%), 29.1 mpg
Who is the current fan favorite in the Madison Square Garden? To find out, look no further than the photograph just above this text. David Lee, out of all the talented scorers on the New York roster, is far and away the most enjoyable athlete to grace a Knick’s uniform. His tenacity and hustle are the only two things that regularly send the crowd into a frenzy lately. So, if you are a resident of the great state of N.Y. and need just one reason to ever return to the Garden, his name is David Lee!
