DENVER NUGGETS 2007-2008 SEASON ANALYSIS

The Denver Nuggets have more talent in their starting lineup than most NBA teams have -- period. Just to give you a better idea of what I am talking about, I will take you live into the Pepsi Center where they are just introducing the fan favorites of the home team’s starting lineup.
“At shooting guard from Georgetown, “The Answer” – A L L E N I V E R S O N! At small forward from Syracuse, “Melo” – C H A R M E L O A N T H O N Y! At center, the man in the middle, M A R C U S C A M B Y!”
You get the idea. Denver has all of the tools to be an elite team in the League (they average nearly 110 points), but the sad reality is that they are destined to fail in the playoffs because of their undeniable lack of effort on the defense end of the court.
DENVER NUGGETS -- TOP 3 PLAYERS
1. Carmelo Anthony — 25.7 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.3 spg, 78.6% (FT%)
The consensus around the Association is that Melo is one of the top three scorers in the NBA. He has honed his offensive technique so effectively that he can score in almost any imaginable way. Anthony employs his most unstoppable move at least five times per game. Picture this. Charmelo catches the ball on the wing (freethrow line extended on the right side of the court), stands in triple-threat position (where he can shoot, pass, or dribble), jolts forward with a right-handed power dribble, and in one swift motion he yanks the ball back into his left hand with a lightning-quick crossover and elevates into his signature stepback jumper.

2. Allen Iverson – 26.4 ppg, 7.1 apg, 3 rpg, 2 spg, 80.9% (FT%)
Iverson was not built to play basketball (he is only 6 foot and weighs 180 lbs. soaking wet). The man called “The Answer” does not have a body that should be able to absorb the hits, elbows, and forearm shivers which are dealt in the NBA every thirty seconds. Hold that thought. Nevermind, ignore everything I just said. A.I. may not have the body of an NBA star, but he has something so much more valuable, the HEART OF A CHAMPION! He fearlessly skirmishes his way to approximately 26 points and 7 assists per outing by using his neck-breaking tempo and deadly crossover to leave his opponents in the dust.

3. Marcus Camby -- 9.1 ppg, 13.1 rpg, 3.3 apg, 3.6 bpg, 1.1 spg, 30% (3p%)
Marcus Camby is yet another example of a string bean (6’11 and 235 lbs.) that has not only made a living in the NBA, but he is a former NBA Allstar. Camby brings a bag full of tricks with him every time he laces up his sneakers. He is capable of filling out the stat. sheet: he scores, rebounds, blocks, steals, and passes well.
